Youth FAQ

What level is appropriate for my child?

Classes are grouped by both age and skill level. Our reception team can help recommend the most suitable class, and teachers will also provide guidance after your child’s trial lesson.

Is there a trial class available?

Absolutely! We offer trial classes so children can experience a lesson before deciding to enrol.

What is the dress code for classes?

We have a uniform guide to ensure all students are appropriately dressed for their classes. Our on-site dance shop stocks a range of dancewear, shoes, socks, tights, and more for your convenience.

Can my child participate in multiple disciplines in one week?

Yes! Many students enjoy combining styles such as ballet, jazz, contemporary, tap, and acrobatics. We also offer discounts for students enrolled in multiple classes each week.

How many Ballet classes per week are required?

Students enrolled in RAD Grade 1 Ballet and above (turning 8 and up) are required to attend two Ballet classes per week to support their technical development and progress through the syllabus.

Is Ballet a requirement for other dance styles?

Ballet is a pre-requisite for Lyrical and Contemporary classes as it provides essential technique and foundation for these styles. Ballet is also a pre-requisite for Eisteddfod Team involvement. All other genres can be taken without Ballet enrolment.

Are students required to take exams?

Exams in Ballet (RAD syllabus) and Tap (GWT syllabus) are by invitation. Teachers will guide families on readiness, and participation is entirely optional.

Do you require auditions for eisteddfod teams?

No auditions are required! All students are welcome to join our eisteddfod teams. To maintain a strong technical foundation, students must be enrolled in Ballet classes.

Do you offer private lessons or solo/duo opportunities?

Yes! We offer private lessons for exam preparation, solos/duos, or additional technique support.

Students must be part of our group eisteddfod teams to be eligible for solo or duo routines.

Do students have to participate in concerts?

Concert participation is optional, but we highly encourage it – it’s a wonderful opportunity for students to shine on stage and celebrate their hard work with family and friends!

What if my child wants to pursue dance professionally?

Our Senior School programs provide a strong foundation for students considering professional training. Teachers can advise on pathways, auditions, and specialised programs, and our Pre-Professional Programs offer an excellent platform for aspiring dancers.
